Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: October 14, 2026 · Last updated: October 14, 2026
This policy applies across Explico® knowledge domains—human-curated, deterministic corpora delivered through signed packs and entitlements—not ad hoc model improvisation. Use must respect your deployment mode: the shared service carries contractual exclusions for certain regulated data categories on the shared service as described below. Customer content is not used to train shared vendor domains. Dedicated on-premises offerings are not sold through this site; see the Laboratory for research-only discussion.
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to all authenticated use of Explico® services and complements the Terms of Service. You accept this AUP when you create an account.
1. Permitted use
Use Explico only for lawful research and workflow purposes within domains and features covered by your entitlements. Respect ethical-wall, matter-scoping, and export controls configured for your organization on dedicated deployments.
2. Knowledge domains
Explico may offer additional knowledge domains over time as described in your order form or license. Each domain has its own notices, entitlements, and permitted use. Supplemental reference material may appear only in entitled generative research flows and must not be scraped or bulk-exported. You must not use a domain for decisions that require licensed professional advice unless you are qualified to do so and your organization accepts that responsibility. Domain-specific restrictions appear in product notices and documentation provided with your entitlements.
3. Shared service (current offering)
The summary below applies to the secured multi-tenant shared service we offer today until counsel finalizes order-form exhibits.
On the shared service, you must not upload firm legal corpora, operate private “law folders,” or set per-matter collection weights for legal-domain views unless your entitlements explicitly allow it; legal research uses vendor-curated pack content under your tier. Organization workflows, walls, and exports follow your agreement and product configuration.
4. Prohibited data on shared service
On multi-tenant shared infrastructure, you must not upload, query, or process:
- Protected health information (PHI) or GxP-regulated records intended for Part 11 systems;
- Export-controlled technical data (ITAR/EAR) unless explicitly covered by a separate agreement;
- Controlled unclassified information (CUI) or other government-sensitive categories prohibited for your tier;
- Personal data unrelated to your research workflow where prohibited by contract or law.
Controlled unclassified information (CUI), PHI, GxP-regulated records, and export-controlled technical data are not permitted on the shared service unless counsel approves a written exception for your tier (none is offered by default).
5. Precision prompts and personal data
Do not inject personal information unrelated to your research task into precision prompts where the product blocks or redacts such content. Abuse (including repeated violations) may result in temporary suspension of specific entitled domains while other entitlements continue, as described in your agreement. [Counsel: suspension duration and notice.]
6. No scraping or corpus reconstruction
You must not use automation to harvest, reconstruct, or redistribute Explico knowledge-domain content at scale. This includes attempts to bulk-export case-law baselines, evaluation corpora, or SME-approved publications outside normal product export features. We apply rate limits and monitoring; violations may result in suspension.
7. Security and abuse
Do not probe, scan, or attack Explico systems except through our Vulnerability Disclosure program. Do not share credentials, bypass authentication, or misrepresent your identity or professional status.
8. Evaluation corpora
Access to the signed-in 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica evaluation corpus (public domain) is for verified accounts only and is labeled with historical framing and outdated-perspective notices. Do not treat evaluation output as legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical guidance.
9. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations, suspend access, and cooperate with law enforcement where required. Enterprise customers may have additional audit and reporting obligations under their order forms.
10. Changes
We may update this AUP; continued use after notice constitutes acceptance where permitted by your agreement.
