Terms of Service

Effective date: October 14, 2026 · Last updated: October 14, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to websites, accounts, and services offered by [Legal entity name] (“Explico,” “we,” “us”) under the Explico® brand. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

1. What Explico is

Explico® is a deterministic intelligent-assistant platform organized into knowledge domains—bounded corpora with SME governance, signed releases, and traceable provenance. Our first production domain is United States legal research; additional domains may be offered under separate entitlements as described in your agreement. Your subscription or license specifies which domains you may use.

Explico provides research and analysis tools, not professional advice. Where a legal domain is enabled, output is legal research, not legal advice. Other domains carry equivalent research-not-advice notices appropriate to the subject matter.

2. Accounts, evaluation access, and production domains

We do not offer anonymous interactive research on production knowledge domains. The marketing site may include an animated demonstration that explains the product; it is not a live research session. A signed-in evaluation using a public-domain 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica corpus may be offered to verified accounts under evaluation notices; it is not a substitute for production entitlements. Interactive access to production domains requires a verified account, acceptance of these Terms and the Acceptable Use Policy at signup, and valid entitlements for the domain(s) you use.

3. Accounts and verification

You must provide accurate registration information and complete email verification (and any additional verification we require for your tier or domain, such as professional credential checks). You are responsible for credentials and activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.

4. Legal research pack, entitlements, and service mode

Content, features, and update cadence vary by your legal research entitlements and tier on the secured shared service. Legal research uses vendor-curated pack content under your entitlements unless your agreement explicitly adds organization-scoped features. Retention and optional supplements are described in the Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy. Domain notices and your order documentation describe permitted use; we do not publish third-party source inventories on the marketing site. We may add, modify, or retire entitled content; material changes will be communicated according to your agreement tier.

Where generative research is enabled, Explico may attach supplemental reference context retrieved through entitled services. Supplements are labeled cited external lookup—they do not override deterministic answers or SME-approved domain content.

The signed-in 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica evaluation corpus is labeled separately from production domains and is not a substitute for production entitlements.

5. Acceptable use

Your use is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy, including prohibitions on certain regulated data on shared infrastructure, automation abuse, and attempts to reconstruct or export domain corpora at scale.

6. Your content; no training

You retain rights in content you upload to your tenant subject to your agreement. Explico does not use your uploads, research questions, or generative prompts to train foundation models or to create public training datasets. We may use aggregated, minimized metadata about retrieval and authority-cache gaps (see Privacy Policy) to improve caches, domains, and SME priorities—without using that process to reconstruct your query text for model training.

7. Intellectual property

Explico software, branding, and vendor-curated domain packaging remain our property or our licensors’. Third-party source material remains subject to its own licenses and attributions shown with answers.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we process personal data.

9. Disclaimers

Services are provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. Research output may decline when sources are insufficient; that behavior is by design.

[Counsel: liability caps, exclusions, and carve-outs for enterprise customers.]

11. Governing law

[Counsel: governing law, venue, arbitration if any.]
